The HBA Training Sale has cataloged 131 ready-to-run 2-year-olds for the May 23 event held at Sapporo Racecourse.
U.S. Horse of the Year for 2019, Bricks and Mortar , whose first crop of 2-year-olds will be on offer, is represented by Hip 61, a bay colt consigned by Kiyoshi Uemura. The colt is out of Bella Luna, a Deep Impact half sister to 2007 Sapporo Nisai Stakes winner Oriental Rock.
Etretat Farm consigns the U.S.-bred colt, Hip 95, by the late Arrogate who passed away in June of 2020; his final crop are juveniles of 2023. The colt is the first foal out of Ignite , a winner of seven races on U.S. soil; he was offered as a yearling at last year's Keeneland September Sale and bought back at $140,000.
Orfevre , sire of both the 2021 Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) winner Marche Lorraine and Ushba Tesoro , winner of this year's Dubai World Cup (G1), is represented by Hip 7, a bay colt consigned by Asrun. He is out of Sacre Diva by Kurofune; the colt was bred on the same cross as Marche Lorraine, who is out of a French Deputy mare.
The under tack show will begin on the dirt track at Sapporo May 22, starting at 11a.m. (local time), and the sale session begins at 10 a.m. May 23.
