Mage and Cody's Wish , two horses who shined at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day, continue to top the latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association polls. The polls cover racing through May 14.
Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mage, who pursues the second jewel of the Triple Crown in the May 20 Preakness Stakes (G1) at Pimlico Race Course, leads the Top 3-Year-Old Poll over Forte , the scratched Kentucky Derby favorite who defeated Mage twice this year in South Florida.
Two Phil's , the Derby runner-up, is third in the poll, followed by Derby third-place finisher Angel of Empire in fourth.
The 3-Year-Old poll represents horses competing up and through the Triple Crown. It includes one filly among its top 10 ranked 3-year-olds: Kentucky Oaks (G1) heroine Pretty Mischievous .
The Top Thoroughbred Poll is open to horses of all ages and represents horses potentially competing for the year-end prize of Horse of the Year. It is headed by Cody's Wish, who won the Churchill Downs Stakes (G1) in his season debut on the May 6 Kentucky Derby undercard.
His stablemate Elite Power is second, followed by Proxy in third and Art Collector in fourth. In fifth place is Clairiere , the top-rated female.
This past weekend's races, which included the Man o' War Stakes (G1T) at Belmont Park, had little bearing on these recent polls.
Full poll results can be viewed online, along with individual voter selections.
