The Justify colt consigned as Hip 322 breezes a quarter-mile in :21 2/5 during the under tack show

The second session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale preview May 17 concluded with a colt by Triple Crown hero Justify   breezing a quarter mile in :21 2/5 to be the fastest time at the distance of Wednesday's session and over the past two days. Four juveniles clocked a bullet furlong in :10, the quickest time at the distance thus far on the dirt track.

The Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds-consigned Hip 322, threw down a fleet-footed breeze, clocking a quarter-mile in : 21 2/5 to show his precocity to viewers. Bred in Kentucky by MMM Stables, the bay is out of the winning Elusive Quality mare My Fast One  and is a half sibling to the My Racehorse-owned One Fast Dream . The Always Dreaming   3-year-old brother, while not showing on the catalog page, recently placed in a one-mile-and-70-yard maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park with trainer Mark Casse March 31.

Withdrawn by his consignor from this year's Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds at Ocala Breeders' Sales Company, he was purchased in 2022 by Nirvana Farm for $175,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Sale. Next week will be the colt's third time through the sales ring after failing to sell in September, hammering at $185,000 at Keeneland, and selling for $155,000 to H.R.D. as a weanling at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

The Coastal Equine-consigned filly, Hip 293 by Practical Joke  , turned in the second-fastest time at a quarter-mile in :21 3/5 Wednesday. She is the first foal out of Meow , by Gio Ponti  , who is a half sibling to Phoenix Stakes (G2) and Futurity Stakes (G3) winner Engage  . Bred in Maryland by Paul O'Loughlin and Matty Thoroughbreds, this will be her second trip through the Timonium sales ring after selling last year to Antigo Ranch for $27,000 during the Fall Yearling Sale.
