Description:

Groupie Doll had a limited season in 2013, winning two of five starts with earnings of $871,000, but her impressive Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (gr. I) win was sufficient to earn her a second Eclipse Award as champion female sprinter. In 2012, Groupie had earned $1,385,314 and won five of nine starts with four placings en route to championship honors.

In addition to winning the F&M Sprint for a second straight year, the daughter of Bowman's BandDeputy Doll (by Silver Deputy) also defended her title in the Presque Isle Masters Stakes (gr. II), and placed in two stakes while trained by William "Buff" Bradley and campaigned by Bradley, his father, Fred; Carl Hurst; and Brent Burns. The mare was bred in Kentucky by the Bradleys.

Groupie Doll not only made news on the track but she also attracted considerable attention when she was purchased by Mandy Pope's Whisper Hill Farm for $3.1 million at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Following her purchase by Pope, Groupie Doll made one more start in 2013, finishing fourth in the Cigar Mile (gr. I) after being forced to alter course to avoid traffic problems in the stretch.

The Eclipse Award-winning female sprinter is still in training with Bradley but will be retired this spring to be bred to Tapit  .
