Four horses owned by Ike and Dawn Thrash have been transferred to trainer Christopher Davis from Brad Cox, including Kentucky Oaks (G1) placed The Alys Look .

"I picked up four older horses, including The Alys Look, off Brad Cox, and four 2-year-olds are coming in for Ike and Dawn Thrash," Davis told BloodHorse May 29.

The Alys Look, a 3-year-old stakes-winning filly by Connect   who has failed to hit the board only once in seven starts, was grade 2-placed in the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) this year before a third in the Kentucky Oaks behind Pretty Mischievous . She recorded her first work back since the May 5 Oaks with a four-furlong breeze in :48 4/5 May 19 over the main track at Keeneland.

"They are all based at Keeneland right now and The Alys Look will run Saturday (June 3) at Santa Anita in the Summertime Oaks. I spoke to Ike and it seems like a favorable spot to try her in terms of it being a grade 2," Davis said.

"Historically speaking, (it) comes up a little light with the heavy hitters headed to the Acorn. She's already grade 1-placed and a stakes winner, now is the time to try and get some of these graded stakes for her residual value."

Raised in Chicago, Davis races on both the Louisiana and Kentucky circuits and has amassed a record of 146-149-113 from 1,003 starts with earnings of $4,919,563. The graded-stakes winner will be looking to make 2023 his best year yet with the additions to his string.

"I've had a relationship with Ike and Dawn for the better part of close to 10 years when I worked for Mike Stidham. They originally had horses with him, and we stayed in contact periodically," Davis said. "They wanted more individual attention. Brad did a fantastic job for them, but they felt it was time to go to a little more boutique stable instead of a bigger one. I think they enjoy the communication."

No strangers to success, the Thrashes have campaigned numerous horses at the upper levels, including grade 1 winners Line of David , Her Emmynency , and Tell a Kelly , grade 2 winners Dawn After Dawn , Turnerloose , and Istanford , and grade 3 winner Hurricane Ike .

The Thrashes reside in Hattiesburg, Miss., and are the driving force behind the real estate development company The Thrash Group.
