Lois Green, co-owner of D.J. Stable with Leonard Green, her husband of more than 60 years, died May 31. She was 84.

"Mom was the original general manager of D.J. Stable," Jon Green, Lois' son and general manager of D.J. Stable, told BloodHorse. "Under her guidance, we won 1,500 races, seven leading owners' titles at various tracks, a grade 1 win, and bred a champion."

Lois and Len solely raced 2022 champion 2-year-old filly Wonder Wheel  in their maroon and white diamond silks with Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse. The daughter of Into Mischief   captured the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) last year.

Their first top-class win came when Do It With Style captured the 1991 Ashland Stakes (G1) at Keeneland. Jon purchased the Pancho Villa filly as a yearling during the 1989 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Selected Yearling Sale for $23,000 from her breeder, Bradyleigh Farms.

Together Lois and Len Green campaigned 2023 American Turf Stakes (G2T) winner Webslinger ; Helium , winner of the 2021 Tampa Bay Derby (G2); grade 3 victress Martha's MusicOn Thin Ice , winner of the 2006 Hal's Hope Handicap; and Renegade Rebel , winner of last year's Mazarine Stakes (G3) at Woodbine. They have had 1,983 horses start for their stable with a record of 356-313-278 and earnings of $13,897,183.

In partnerships, they campaigned 2018 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) winner Jaywalk  (in partnership with Cash Is King); With Anticipation (G3T) winner Coinage  (with Chester and Mary Broman); and Papilio , winner of this year's Appalachian Stakes (G2) (with Medallion Racing, Barry Fowler, and Parkland Thoroughbreds).

"It's a family affair. My parents, who were married for over 60 years, were a wonderful yin and yang match," Jon Green said. "What one had as a strength, the other one lacked… Mom always had enough strength for both of them. They really complemented each other very well with their skill sets. My dad is very entrepreneurial and an overall long-range thinker, while Mom was excellent at strategizing and getting things accomplished daily."

Besides Jon and his wife, Michelle, survivors include daughters Beth and Debbie (husband Marty), and grandchildren Carly, Griffin, Robin, Wyatt, and Kenny.

Services will be held June 2 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. ET at Congregation B'nai Israel in Rumson, N.J. Contributions may be made in Lois' name to New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program or the New York Racetrack Chaplaincy.
