C R K Stable's Skinner , scratched from the Kentucky Derby (G1) four weeks ago, has also been scratched from the June 4 Affirmed Stakes.

Trainer John Shirreffs made the decision to withdraw following a gallop on the main track Saturday morning. He notified the Santa Anita Park racing office of the scratch at about 9:30 a.m. PT.

"I just wasn't happy with the way he jogged," Shirreffs said from Santa Anita's Clocker's Corner.

Skinner was the 9-5 second choice on the morning line behind Geaux Rocket Ride , the 8-5 favorite for trainer Richard Mandella. Hall of Famer Mike Smith was set to ride Skinner for the first time.

The son of Curlin   has not raced since a third-place finish in the April 8 Santa Anita Derby (G1). Shipped to Churchill Downs, he was scratched from the Kentucky Derby (G1) two days before the 1 1/4-mile classic due to what was announced as an elevated temperature. Five horses were scratched from the Derby in part due to tight veterinary scrutiny.

Skinner's withdrawal from the Affirmed leaves a compact field of five. Post time on Sunday is scheduled for 4:44 p.m.
