Sugar Treat breaks her maiden at Gulfstream Park

Sugar Treat  became the first winner for Darley stallion Enticed   with a determined debut victory June 10 at Gulfstream Park.

Sent off as the second choice in the field of eight fillies in the five-furlong maiden special weight, Sugar Treat tracked the pace and was forced to steady at the 7/16ths pole entering the far turn. Recovering swiftly under jockey Edgar Perez, she raced three-wide down the stretch and collared the frontrunner in the final strides.

Striking the wire a half-length in front, Sugar Treat ($8.20) was timed in :58.50 on the all-weather surface.

D.J. Stable picked up the filly for $120,000 at this year's Ocala Breeders' Sales Company March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale after she worked a quarter-mile in :21 2/5 at the under tack show. Gary Barber partnered up with D.J. Stable to campaign Sugar Treat, who is trained by Mark Casse.

Sugar Treat was bred in Florida by Ocala Stud and is produced from the War Front   mare Brown Glaze . She is also the dam of graded stakes-placed runners Absolute Grit  and Bet On Mookie .
