Turf Sprinter Nobals Looks to Stay Hot in Mighty Beau

Patricia's Hope's Twin Spires Turf Sprint (G2T) hero Nobals  headlines an over-subscribed field of 11 grass sprinters in the featured $225,000 Mighty Beau Stakes June 18 at Ellis Park.

Run at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf, the Mighty Beau was carded as the seventh of nine races Sunday with a post time of 3:43 p.m. CT.

Trained by Larry Rivelli, Nobals sprung a 38-1 upset on Kentucky Derby Day in the $500,000 Turf Sprint. The fleet-footed son of Noble Mission  has won seven of his 14 starts and earned $725,074. Jockey Gerardo Corrales rides from post No. 8.

A number of accomplished turf specialists entered the Mighty Beau against Nobals including Marsico Brothers Racing's recent allowance optional claiming winner Bad Beat Brian ; William Branch's six-time stakes winner Carotari ; Calumet Farm's grade 3-winning homebred Gear Jockey ; Griffon Farms and Michelle Lovell's back-to-back Mighty Beau Stakes winner Just Might  and Golden Kernel Racing Stable's multiple graded stakes winner Yes I Am Free .

Bad Beat Brian figures to start as one of the favorites after rebounding from a sixth-place finish in the May 6 Turf Sprint to prevail against some of his Sunday rivals last out at Churchill Downs May 26.

Turf racing this week at Ellis Park will be conducted with the temporary rail set at 27 feet and field size is limited to 10 starters.
