Description:

Trainer Dale Romans said May 28 that Bill Cubbedge's Molly Morgan has been retired from racing because of a hairline fracture in one of her sesamoids.

The 6-year-old Ghostzapper   mare was last seen in the La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs May 1, when she claimed the first grade I victory of her career.

ANGST: Molly Morgan Scores Grade I in La Troienne

"Very few horses retire on a good note, but this filly doesn't owe us anything," Romans said. "I'm so proud of how far she came to become a grade I winner and I'm looking forward to seeing some of her babies."

After running for a maiden-claiming tag three times in 2011 and 2012, Molly Morgan went on to win three graded stakes in 2014, including the Fleur de Lis Handicap (gr. II) and Chilukki Stakes (gr. II), both at Churchill, and the Gardenia Stakes (gr. III) at Ellis Park. She earned $882,159 in her career with a 8-4-8 record from 29 starts.

Molly Morgan was bred in Kentucky by Cubbedge, Mike Lauffer, and Gred McDonald, out of the Distorted Humor   mare Capitulation.
