The second session of six under tack shows got underway June 6 at Ocala Breeders' Sales for the June 2-Year-Olds and Horses of Racing Age Sale, with two juveniles breezing a bullet furlong. One horse clocked a quarter-mile in :20 1/5 and one went in :20 2/5 to be the fastest times at the distance Tuesday.
Within the first 30 minutes of the second under tack show, all four of the day's fastest times were accounted for while the temperatures hovered around 70 degrees.
A colt by Chitu named Esperon, Hip 347, consigned by Silvestre Chavez Thoroughbreds, agent, laid down the fastest quarter of the past two days this morning in :20 1/5, during the first set. The Florida-bred is out of the stakes-placed winning Songandaprayer mare Satan's Mistress and full sibling to two winners. Bred by Michael Frank, the colt was a $70,000 RNA during the March Sale for Chavez.
A chestnut colt by Catalina Cruiser , consigned as Hip 208 by All Dreams Equine, turned in a quarter-mile breeze in :20 2/5 just past 8 a.m. to be the second-fastest at the distance Tuesday. The colt out of One for London is from the family of Distaff Handicap (G2) winner Nicole H and sibling to a winner currently on the track. Fredericka V. Caldwell and Mitchel Skolnick bred the colt in Kentucky and parted ways during the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale at $87,000 when he sold to MKW Investments. Later that year, he sold for $30,000 to JC Corp during the September Sale.
The Mo Town colt, Hip 346, breezed a fleet-footed eighth of a mile in :09 4/5 for GOP Racing Stable Corp., agent. The Kentucky-bred will make his third trip through the sales ring next week. Last year he RNAed at $12,000 during the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale as a short yearling for his breeder, Susan Young, returning to the September Sale, where he was hammered down for $32,000 to GGS Legal Racing.
Out of the unraced Henny Hughes mare Sassy Redhead, he is half sibling to two winners. His third dam Sassy Pants is the dam of grade 1 winners Madcap Escapade and Dubai Escapade .
Consignor Gene Recio, the agent, sent his Malibu Moon colt, Hip 356, out during the first set of the morning, seeing the bay move in :09 4/5 to share top honors at an eighth. Angela M. Ingenito and Spendthrift Stallions bred the colt in Florida. He, too, will make his third trip through the sales pavilion after initially selling during the Fasig-Tipton July Selected Yearling Sale for $155,000 to Vortex Racing and RNAing here at OBS in March for Recio at $155,000. The bay's dam, Scion Power, is a full sibling to grade 1-placed Derwin's Star .
