Carpe Diem, Madefromlucky Work in Company

Carpe Diem and Madefromlucky, a pair of colts trained by Todd Pletcher, worked a half-mile in company May 29 at Belmont Park. Both are under consideration for the June 6 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and a bid at thwarting American Pharoah's bid for the Triple Crown.



Carpe Diem, a grade I-winning son of Giant's Causeway  , recorded a half-mile of :47.66 (the third fastest of 33 on the day) for the four furlongs while Peter Pan Stakes (gr. II) winner Madefromlucky got the trip in :47.84 (co-sixth fastest)



Carpe Diem, winner of the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) April 4 at Keeneland, was tenth behind American Pharoah in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I). WinStar Farm and Stonestreet Stables' runner has won four of six starts and has earned $1,519,800. He is out of the Unbridled's  Song mare Rebridled Dreams.



Madefromlucky, a one-length winner of the May 9 Peter Pan at Belmont, was second behind American Pharoah in the March 14 Rebel Stakes (gr. II) and was fourth behind the dual classic winner in the April 11 Arkansas Derby (gr. I). This was his second move since the Peter Pan. He went five furlongs in a bullet :59.01 May 22.



Madefromlucky, by Lookin At Lucky  Home From Oz, by Pulpit, is owned by Cheyenne Stables and Mac Nichol. Home From Oz is a full sister to leading sire Tapit  .





Another top Pletcher 3-year-old, the unbeaten Competitive Edge, also worked May 29. The son of Super Saver   went four furlongs in :48.87. The winner of last year's Hopeful Stakes (gr. I), Competitive Edge won the Pat Day Mile (gr. III) at Churchill Downs on Derby day in his last outing.

Last year's Belmont winner, Tonalist (by Tapit), worked five furlongs in 1:01.23 for trainer Christophe Clement.
