West Will Power Climbs Into Fourth in NTRA Poll

West Will Power after winning the Stephen Foster Stakes at Ellis Park

A victory from West Will Power  in the Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) moved the Gary and Mary West-owned horse into fourth in the latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association Top Thoroughbred Poll.

Metropolitan Handicap (G1) winner Cody's Wish  continues to lead the rankings, followed by True North Stakes (G2) winner Elite Power  and Ogden Phipps Stakes (G1) heroine Clairiere , the top-rated female. These three horses are likely to be in action this summer at Saratoga Race Course

Poll voting is conducted by national media, representing horses competing for Horse of the Year. The poll released July 4 was the 23rd week of the poll this year.

West Will Power's win in the Stephen Foster was his second in four starts this year for trainer Brad Cox. In March, he won the New Orleans Classic (G2) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots | BloodHorse.com Track Profile">Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. His victory in the Stephen Foster earned him a paid, automatic berth in the Nov. 4 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) at Santa Anita Park through the Breeders' Cup Challenge Series: Win and You're In.

No other Stephen Foster participants cracked the top 10 of the latest poll, though Stephen Foster runner-up Rattle N Roll  is close in 11th place.
