WinStar Farm's dual-surface grade 1 winner and freshman sire Yoshida   sired his first winner July 4 at Lone Star Park, where his gelded son Third Street  won his second career start by 7 1/4 lengths.

Bred in Louisiana by Bryon Henderson out of the Street Boss  winner Abbey Street, Third Street was a buy-back at the 2023 Texas Thoroughbred Association April 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale where, as an intact colt, he brought $3,000 at the fall of the hammer. Consigned by Diamond C Racing, Third Street wound up in the hands of trainer/owner Shawn Davis and co-owner Bill Carnes.

In his debut, Third Street got bumped at the start in a five-furlong test on the dirt at Lone Star and finished fifth. He followed with a cleaner break Tuesday from an outside post going 5 1/2 furlongs that allowed him to win gate-to-wire under Jose Alvarez. The buy-back has now banked $20,601.

The gelding is the third winner produced by Abbey Street, who is a half sister to Wood Memorial Stakes (G1) winner Wicked Strong   (Hard Spun  ). The immediate family also produced multiple graded stakes winners Gulch Approval and Rusty Slipper .

Yoshida, a 9-year-old son of Heart's Cry , in 2018 won the Turf Classic Stakes (G1T) at Churchill Downs and later that year captured the Woodward Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course. For his career, he won or placed in seven graded stakes and banked $2,505,770.
