Jockey John Hiraldo has been summarily suspended by the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission for testing positive for amphetamine. The ruling was posted July 5 on the Association of Racing Commissioners International website.
Hiraldo was asked to submit to a random drug test which produced the positive result. His hearing for his summary suspension will be held July 7.
Hiraldo has 1,293 career starts with 140 wins and $4,252,790 in career earnings. He made his debut in 2020. Hiraldo has had his most success on Chief Ron , a Super Saver gelding, on whom he has earned $114,509. They most recently paired July 1 to finish third in the Alapocas Run Stakes at Delaware Park.
The native of Puerto Rico was a 2021 Eclipse Award finalist for outstanding apprentice jockey.
