Jockey Hiraldo Summarily Suspended for Amphetamine

John Hiraldo wins his first race Dec. 31, 2020 aboard Flat Rate at Laurel Park

Jockey John Hiraldo has been summarily suspended by the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission for testing positive for amphetamine. The ruling was posted July 5 on the Association of Racing Commissioners International website.

Hiraldo was asked to submit to a random drug test which produced the positive result. His hearing for his summary suspension will be held July 7.

Hiraldo has 1,293 career starts with 140 wins and $4,252,790 in career earnings. He made his debut in 2020. Hiraldo has had his most success on Chief Ron , a Super Saver   gelding, on whom he has earned $114,509. They most recently paired July 1 to finish third in the Alapocas Run Stakes at Delaware Park

The native of Puerto Rico was a 2021 Eclipse Award finalist for outstanding apprentice jockey.
