Description:
Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) winner Texas Red worked an easy five furlongs on Santa Anita Park's main track May 30, as he continues preparations for his comeback from a foot injury.

The son of Afleet Alex   was clocked in 1:02 4/5, a time that ranked 41st of 46 moves at the distance. Trainer Keith Desormeaux indicated afterward that the colt could make his return to the races in the $500,000 Dwyer Stakes (gr. III) July 4 at Belmont Park, as opposed to the $350,000 Los Alamitos Derby (gr. II) the same day.

"The Dwyer is a one-turn mile, and the Los Al Derby is a mile and an eighth," Desormeaux said. "The horse is 100% right now and if plans work out, we could run at Saratoga this summer, so the Dwyer in New York seems like a good starting point."

Texas Red missed the Triple Crown classics due to abscess issues on his right front foot.
