The Fasig-Tipton Horses of Racing Age Sale kicks off Monday at 2 p.m. ET

The opportunity to trade summer racing prospects and hit the upcoming meets with turnkey stock happens July 10 at Fasig-Tipton's Newtown paddocks with the July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale. The single-day sale will showcase ready-to-race offerings: horses with current form, some coming off stakes wins. The exciting addition of the July 8 Iowa Oaks (G3) winner Crypto Mo  highlights the catalog.

"We have an exciting week ahead of us with approximately 244 horses of racing age cataloged for the sale on Monday afternoon and about 370 yearlings cataloged for Tuesday," Fasig-Tipton's president and CEO Boyd Browning commented. "A mix of yearlings with promise and potential and proven racehorses, stakes performers, fillies with lots of pedigree, there is something for everybody coming to Fasig-Tipton."

Crypto Mo, a 3-year-old Mohaymen   filly, led gate to wire in the 1-1/16 mile Iowa Oaks over the dirt track at Prairie Meadows, stopping the clock in 1:44.16, two lengths ahead of the field. That was her third win this year, including the Panthers Stakes June 10 at the same track. She sells Monday with a record of 4-0-1 in eight starts and earnings of $210,870. Taylor Made Sales Agency will consign the racing prospect as Hip 645.

"This is our biggest and best draft by far, (we have) great client support all around the country from multiple owners and trainers," Brad Weisbord of ELiTE commented. "We have everything from potential $50,000 needs to run for a tag-type horses to stakes-winning fillies like Sweetlou'sgotaces (Hip 512). It's a great group because everybody can come shop here; there are a lot of horses that can be traded in the $100,000 to $175,000 range for clients who need to move on to bring their 2-year-olds in. That makes this sale so well-timed; these trainers need stalls, and owners want to cut horses that don't fit their program, but that doesn't mean they can't find a new home and provide a lot of fun for the new connections."

An impressive 18 stakes winners are cataloged to the sale, including recent June 2 Penn Oaks winner Malleymoo —Hip 444; Glenall —Hip 404, winner in the Wasted Tears Stakes June 24; June 21 Dark Star Turf Sprint Stakes winner High Front —Hip 414; June 25 Tale of the Cat Stakes winner Power in Numbers —Hip 470; and June 26 Crowd Pleaser Stakes winner Movisitor —Hip 455.

"We have 11 horses coming in off wins and two coming off stakes wins; we have been doing this since 2017, so we know what works," said Weisbord. "We have kicked out the horses that don't vet, so we are down from 39 to 37 and all vet. I think this will be our best group, and we are excited to see what happens."

The catalog includes 19 juvenile runners and six unstarted horses, among older horses.

"We have an all-around good group of horses. We have an Uncle Mo colt, Hip 455 (Movisitor), which is coming off a stakes win; he is a very nice Uncle Mo with a lot of pedigree," Alex Payne of Taylor Made Sales said. "We also have Celestial Moon, Hip 552 for Breeze Easy; the colt ran a 90 Beyer breaking his maiden and came back and ran a 90 in an allowance race to win (this year) and then ran an 88 next. This horse has been building solid numbers and will be very popular.

"These horses have all kinds of conditions left and are ready for summer racing, and many of them are to dissolve partnerships, so they are here to sell. It's a great group of horses."

Last year. the single-sale session saw 129 of the 159 horses on offer sell for a gross of $10,814,000, with an average of $83,829 and a median of $58,000. There were 30 horses who failed to meet their reserve, representing an RNA rate of 18.9%.

Kuchar , a 3-year-old son of Uncle Mo  , took top honors at last year's event, selling for $500,000 to Steve Young, agent. The WinStar Farm bred and consigned colt came into the sale with a second-place finish in the American Derby as an update to his Oaklawn Park runner-up stakes effort with earnings of $201,750. The colt out of grade 1-placed mare Street Girl  now runs for LSU Stables with Todd Pletcher.

Young made four total purchases last year for a gross of $1,265,000 to be the sale's leading buyer. Brad Weisbord and Liz Crow's ELiTE sales sold all of their 22 offerings for a gross of $2,573,000 to be the sale's leading consignor.

The first horse for the 2023 auction will head through the ring at 2 p.m. ET Monday. As of Sunday afternoon, 70 horses had been withdrawn from the sale, leaving 174 on offer.
