Retired jockey Rosie Napravnik and her husband, trainer Joe Sharp, announced the birth of their son Carson Wayne Sharp June 1.
Napravnik, who announced her retirement to focus on family at last year's Breeders' Cup World Championships after guiding Untapable to victory in the Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I), reported the birth on her Facebook page.
"Joe and I welcomed Carson Wayne Sharp into the world at 4:09 a.m. this morning, weighing 6 pounds 15 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long," Napravnik said in the Facebook post. "He is the most perfect baby boy and we are absolutely in love!"
When she announced her retirement last fall, Napravnik said she was seven weeks pregnant. A two-time winner of the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) with Untapable last year and Believe You Can in 2012, Napravnik also guided Shanghai Bobby to victory in the 2012 Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I).
Sharp picked up his first graded-stakes win as a trainer this year when he sent out Sandbar to victory in the Maryland Sprint Handicap (gr. III) at Pimlico Race Course.
