Apprentice Rice Wins Four Races at Aqueduct

Description:

Apprentice jockey Taylor Rice, the 25-year-old niece of trainer Linda Rice, won four races at Aqueduct Racetrack Jan. 27.

It was the first time Rice, a graduate of Florida State University who began her riding career at Presque Isle Downs last August, had won four races on a single card in her career.

"It's awesome. Nothing is better. God is good," said Taylor Rice of her big day.

Rice won with two of her first three mounts on the card, taking race 2 with Julesco ($9.70), finishing fifth in race 3, and reporting home a winner in race 4 aboard Jewel in the Sky ($7.20). After finishing fourth in race 6 and fifth in race 7, she rode favored Abra ($2.90) to victory in race 8 and Executive Office to win race 9 ($10.60).

Both Abra and Executive Office are trained by Linda Rice.

"(Linda and I) had talked about a few things to fix (with Executive Office) from his last couple of races," said Rice. "He did it all perfectly and ran his race."

Rice, who finished third in the 2013 Hawthorne Racecourse meet standings with 41 wins, is currently tied for eighth in the Aqueduct inner track standings with 12 victories.
