Danse Macabre Looks to Hit Right Notes in Music City

The Kelsey Danner-trained Danse Macabre , winner of last year's Untapable Stakes, returns to the site of her most lucrative victory in the $1 million Music City Stakes (G1T) Sept. 2 at Kentucky Downs.

The 6 1/2-furlong features a field of 12 plus four also-eligibles. 

The daughter of Army Mule   comes into the Music City with a 4-2-1 mark in seven starts, including 2-for-2 as a 3-year-old in Gulfstream Park's Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3T) and Churchill Downs' Mamzelle.

She takes on grade 3 winner and British invader Mammas Girl  and stakes winners L J's Emma , American Apple , Queen Picasso , Mohawk Trail , Malley Moo, Jill Jitterbug , and Determined Jester . Though she hasn't won a stakes, Secret Money  was a good third in her last start in the Lake Placid Stakes (G3T) at Saratoga Race Course.

In another $1 million stakes, Major Dude  heads a field of 10 Kentucky- breds for the Gun Runner Stakes (G1T). The Todd Pletcher trainee won the Penn Mile (G2T) but finished fourth his last two times out. 

Brad Cox entered Godolphin's Wadsworth , winner of the American Derby and Ellis Park's Kentucky Downs Preview Dueling Grounds Derby. Others entered: UAE Two Thousand Guineas (G3T) winner Tall Boy , stakes winners Gaslight Dancer  and Talk of the Nation , Georgie W , Highway Robber , Smokey Mandate , Escape Artist , and Communication Memo .
