NYRA Reports Nearly All Belmont Tickets Sold

Description:

The New York Racing Association said nearly all tickets for the Saturday, June 6 running of the Belmont Stakes presented by DraftKings (gr. I) have been sold out, with a few thousand general admission tickets remaining as of 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5.

NYRA advised fans the remaining tickets were available at ticketmaster.com while supplies last, and to print out their tickets before traveling to Belmont Park. Fans are specifically advised not to travel to Belmont Park on Saturday without tickets purchased in advance. NYRA this year implemented a cap of 90,000 for the Belmont, in which American Pharoah will attempt to become the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win the Triple Crown.

"We anticipate a full sellout late this evening, and any available tickets will be available for purchase by visiting ticketmaster.com," stated Christopher Kay, chief executive officer and president of the New York Racing Association.

With this year's implementation of a paid attendance cap of 90,000 NYRA officials have publicly, and repeatedly forecasted that tickets for Belmont Stakes Day would be sold out prior to the start of the event.

NYRA also said large VMS signs located outside and within Belmont Park will have messages announcing that tickets are not available for Saturday's event. Additionally, NYRA is working with the Long Island Railroad to further convey this message to all those planning to board Belmont-bound trains originating in New York Penn Station, and at Jamaica Station. LIRR customers holding Belmont Stakes tickets are specifically encouraged to purchase round-trip rail fare in an effort to further expedite their travel to and from Belmont Park.

Clear signs will also be visible upon entry to Belmont's parking lots, with parking attendants reminding entrants of this fact. Entrants will also be given an updated map of the facility, which clearly notes all exit points.

NYRA said Belmont Stakes patrons should anticipate significant delays entering and exiting the property, particularly in the afternoon and continuing into the evening on Saturday. There will be post-race concert led by the Goo Goo Dolls following the Belmont race card.
