Special Events for Gulfstream's Anniversary

Description:

Gulfstream Park has scheduled special events, including mystery voucher giveaways, for Saturday, Feb. 1, to celebrate the Florida track's 75th anniversary.

Post time for the first race will be 12:40 p.m. EST. The race program includes the 61st running of the $200,000 Hutcheson Stakes (gr. II) for 3-year-olds and the $75,000 Gulfstream Turf Sprint Championship.

Beginning at 11 a.m., patrons can register for a $75 betting voucher ($25 win, place, and show) that will be awarded before each race. From noon until 3 p.m., Gulfstream will give out free posters (while supplies last) specially designed by equine cartoonist Peb celebrating Gulfstream's 75 years.

Patrons are also encouraged to dress in 1930s and 1940s era clothing Feb. 1. For those who do, Gulfstream will have a "mystery judge" who will award betting vouchers in various denominations for the most authentically dressed, and copies of the hardbound book "Gulfstream Park, Celebrating 75 Years" will also be given away.

Gulfstream will also roll back prices that day with 75-cent hot dogs (two per customer, Silks concession only) and a 75-cent drink menu with a variety of options including the side car, gin sour, whiskey sour, mint julep, Gibson, champagne cocktail, and Sazerac.

Parking and admission are always free at Gulfstream, with "Breakfast at Gulfstream" from 7-10 a.m. every Saturday, and free tours of the barn area.
