The New York Racing Association said June 8 that more than 95% of the $2 win tickets sold at Belmont Park and Aqueduct Racetrack on American Pharoah to win the Belmont Stakes presented by DraftKings (gr. I) have not been cashed.

NYRA said there were 94,128 individual paper $2 tickets sold on the Triple Crown winner through the track's AmTote system and that as of Monday, only 3,891 had been cashed for a payoff of $3.50 each.

The 90,237 tickets that remain uncashed are apparently being saved as souvenirs of the historic event in which the colt became the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.

The deadline to cash the winning tickets is March 31, 2016, or the money is returned to the state.

Of the total $81,681,147 wagered on the Belmont Stakes from all sources, more than $6.6 million was wagered on-track.
