Amidst Waves , a nose winner of the Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga Race Course, is the 3-1 morning-line favorite in a field of 10 for Keeneland’s Oct. 8 $250,000 Indian Summer Stakes, a 5 1/2-furlong sprint on the grass for 2-year-olds that typically propels one or two of the top finishers to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1T).
The Kentucky-bred filly by Midshipman also was entered in the same day’s Matron Stakes (G3T) for fillies at the Belmont at the Big A meet but trainer George Weaver confirmed via text that she will ship to Keeneland from her Saratoga Race Course base to face five colts, a gelding, and three other fillies.
Other top contenders include Shards , a five-length Colonial Downs maiden winner, and Committee of One , second in a $156,400 maiden at Kentucky Downs.
