Description:

Hall of Fame jockey Russell Baze rode six winners from seven mounts Jan. 31 at Golden Gate Fields.

Baze scored his victories with Iron Joe T ($7) in the first race , Uzziel ($7.40) in the featured third , Spanishsugarrr ($6.20) in the fifth , Relentless Warrior ($7.60) in the sixth , Barrel Knot ($7.60) in the seventh , and Bomb Site ($5.40) in the eighth . Amazingly, Bomb Site was the only horse favored in the betting.

His lone loser on his 6-for-7 afternoon was Unbridled Loyalty, who finished third in the fourth race.

Baze, who returned from a three-day riding suspension Jan. 30, has twice ridden seven winners on a card, which is the Northern California record. Baze went 7-for-9 at Golden Gate Fields April 16, 1992, and 7-for-7 at the San Mateo County Fair at Bay Meadows Aug. 18, 2006.

He will try to continue his roll Feb. 1 when he rides five horses, including morning-line favorites Ezio in the third race and G. G. Ryder in race eight.  Post time for the nine-race card is 12:45 p.m. PST.
