Stakes Winners Hot Beach, Youalmosthadme Top Myrtlewood

A promising group of nine 2-year-old fillies collide Oct. 27 for the fourth running of the $200,000 Myrtlewood Stakes to be held at six furlongs over the Keeneland main track. Stakes winners Hot Beach  and Youalmosthadme  meet again after battling in the Aug. 13 Ellis Park Debutante, when they respectively finished first and third, and in the one-mile Pocahontas Stakes (G3) Sept. 16 at Churchill Downs, a race in which they were respectively third and second.

Boardshorts Stables' Hot Beach, an Omaha Beach   filly trained by Brian Lynch, may benefit from the turnback to six furlongs after fading on the lead to finish third in the Pocahontas and finishing three-quarters of a length behind the Brad Cox-trained runner-up Youalmosthadme, a daughter of Oxbow  .

Other contenders in the Myrtlewood include Winchell Thoroughbreds Copper Em —returning to dirt after finishing second on the grass in the Untapable Stakes Sept. 13 at Kentucky Downs—and the Munnings   filly Field Lass , a runaway 7 1/2-length maiden winner over a bulky field in an off-the-turf event Sept. 28 at Churchill Downs.

Besides Field Lass, five others come off victories. They include Fibber , the McLean Robertson-trained pair of Xtreme Diva  and Xtreme Smoke Show , Let Them Watch , and Wellareyouhappynow .
