The latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association Top Thoroughbred Poll experienced little movement In advance of the Nov. 3-4 Breeders' Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park. The top seven positions were unchanged, and among the top 10, only Geaux Rocket Ride and the retired Echo Zulu swapped positions to be eighth and ninth, respectively.
Three 3-year-olds are in the top 10: Arcangelo (first), Arabian Knight (sixth) and Geaux Rocket Ride. They are pointed to the $6 million Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), where they are expected to face a group of older horses led by C Two Racing Stable and Antonio Pagnano's White Abarrio (fifth).
Blue Rose Farm's Arcangelo is the current leader of the 3-year-old division after victories in the Belmont Stakes (G1) and Travers Stakes (G1).
Pin Oak Stud's Geaux Rocket Ride won in the July 22 Haskell Stakes (G1) at Monmouth Park, a race in which the Zedan Racing Stables' Arabian Knight was third in a return from a long layoff. Later in the summer, the latter held off Geaux Rocket Ride in winning the Sept. 2 Pacific Classic (G1) at Del Mar.
This was the 39th week of national media voting in the Top Thoroughbred Poll. It represents horses competing for Horse of the Year, the top prize in North American Thoroughbred racing.
