Veeson became the first black-type stakes winner for Pennsylvania stallion Il Villano by taking the $100,000 Jump Start Stakes for Pennsylvania-breds Oct. 24 at Parx Racing.
Tenth of 12 with three-eighths of a mile remaining in the seven-furlong contest, Veeson uncorked a wide rally to catch Prince of Rain for a head victory. He was timed in 1:26.58 following taxing splits of :22.17 and :44.90 set by Bourbon Music , who would weaken to sixth.
One More Scoop was third.
The Ernesto Padilla-Preciado-trained Veeson ($45) won his third consecutive race. He is a homebred for owner Chuck Russo, who also campaigned Il Villano.
The winner was bred out of the Spring At Last mare Springintherein.
Last year at age 2, Veeston twice placed in stakes when third in the Prince Lucky Stakes and second in the Pennsylvania Nursery, both at Parx. Away from racing for a series of months earlier in the year, he won two starts against lesser before Tuesday's victory.
