Roadster, a 7-year-old son of top five North American leading sire Quality Road , won the Santa Anita Derby with a sustained stretch run that took him past stablemate and 2018 champion 2-year-old colt Game Winner and was half a length the best at the wire. During a five-year racing career, Roadster was also runner-up in three graded stakes, including the Malibu Stakes (G1), and was third in the Del Mar Futurity (G1) in his second career start.
Bred by Stone Farm in Kentucky, Roadster is out of the Silver Ghost stakes winner Ghost Dancing, making him a half brother to grade 1 winner Ascend , who set a track record going 1 1/16 miles at Keeneland in 1:43.55.
Ocala Stud's roster also includes three-time grade 1 winner and millionaire Colonel Liam , who is standing his second season at $6,500. The 6-year-old son of Liam's Map out of the Bernardini mare Amazement was a $1.2 million graduate of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale, where agent Jacob West bought him on behalf of Robert and Lawana Low after breezing a quarter-mile in :20 4/5. He went on to win consecutive editions of the Pegasus Turf Invitational Stakes (G1T) in 2021-22 and captured the Turf Classic Stakes (G1T) at Churchill Downs in between.
Standing for $5,000 next year at Ocala Stud are Seeking the Soul and Win Win Win , who were each represented by their first yearlings in 2023.
Win Win Win was represented this year by his first yearlings that commanded up to $250,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale and $150,000 at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale. During his racing career, Win Win Win captured the 2020 Forego Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course and set a new track record at 3 in the seven-furlong Pasco Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in 1:20.89. Win Win Win hails from a deep Live Oak Stud family and is a descendant of the influential Halo sire line. He stands as the property of a partnership between Live Oak Stud, Airdrie Stud, and Ocala Stud.
Seeking the Soul, a Charles Fipke homebred by Fipke's homebred sire Perfect Soul, won or placed in eight graded stakes and banked nearly $3.5 million in earnings. He won the 2017 Clark Handicap (G1), the 2018 Ack Ack Stakes (G3), and the 2019 Stephen Foster Stakes (G2). He was also runner-up in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) and the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1).
Awesome Slew , the leading freshman sire in Florida in 2022, currently ranks second on the state's leading second-crop sires list with cumulative progeny earnings of nearly $1.7 million. His overall leading earner is multiple stakes winner Awesome Strong with earnings of $473,200, followed by multiple stakes-placed Awesome Pic who has banked $153,985. Awesome Slew has been represented in the auction ring this year by 2-year-olds selling up to $700,000.
