Breeders' Cup Releases Race Order, Post Times, Wagers

Breeders' Cup announced Oct. 25 the official order of races, post times, and wagering menu for the 2023 Breeders' Cup Nov. 3-4 at Santa Anita Park.

There will be a total of 10 races, five of them Breeders' Cup races, on the first day—"Future Stars Friday"—and 12 races on the Saturday program, highlighted by nine Breeders' Cup races. The Friday program begins at 11:30 a.m. PT (2:30 p.m. ET) with four undercard races, with the first Breeders' Cup race, the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1T), having a post time of 2 p.m. PT. The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T), the day's ninth race, will be the final Breeders' Cup race with a post time of 4:40 p.m. PT. A Santa Anita allowance race will conclude the card as the 10th and final race with a post time of 5:10 p.m. PT.

Breeder's Cup Saturday's first post is 10:10 a.m. PT and begins with two undercard races. This year, for the first time in the 40-year history of the Breeders' Cup, the featured $6 million Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) will not be the final Breeders' Cup race—a move that aligns it with NBC's college football coverage set to begin Saturday at 4 p.m. PT. The Classic is the ninth race on the card at 3:40 p.m. PT.

The Classic will be followed by the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1T), the 10th race, at 4:25 p.m. PT, and the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1), the 11th race, at 5 p.m. PT. Saturday's program will wrap up with a Santa Anita allowance race as the last of 12 races with a post time of 5:30 p.m. PT.

The USA Network coverage on Saturday begins at 10:30 a.m. PT, followed by an extended 3 1/2 hours of live programming on NBC and its streaming service Peacock from 12:30-4 p.m. PT that will feature five Breeders' Cup races, topped by the Breeders' Cup Classic.

The final two Breeders' Cup races will be on Peacock and also streamed on BreedersCup.com and Breeders' Cup social media channels.

USA Network and FanDuel TV will both televise the first day of this year's Breeders' Cup. USA Network coverage will take place from 1-5 p.m. PT and will include one undercard race and all five Breeders' Cup races, concluding with the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf. FanDuel TV coverage will begin at 11 a.m. PT with the first undercard race and will conclude with race 10.

FanDuel TV will televise the first two undercard races and eight of the nine Breeders' Cup races Saturday.

This year, a total of 27 countries will offer pari-mutuel, commingled wagering through the Breeders' Cup Global Pool. Nine other countries will offer separate pool wagering

The 2023 wagering menu will include a Breeders' Cup All-Turf $3 Pick 3 on Friday.

The Breeders' Cup All-Turf Pick 4 on Saturday is a 50-cent minimum wager and will package four of the best turf races.

    Race 6: FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile (G1T)

    Race 8: Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T)

    Race 10: Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1T) 

For the first time, the Breeders' Cup will offer the Breeders' Cup All-Dirt Pick 4 on Saturday, which is a 50-cent minimum wager.

    Race 5: Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1)

    Race 7: Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1)

    Race 9: Breeders' Cup Classic

    Race 11: Breeders' Cup Sprint

Both the All-Turf Pick 4 and the All-Dirt Pick 4 will have a player-friendly 15% takeout.

Breeders' Cup will also offer a third, middle Pick 5 on Saturday, starting with race 3. The early Pick 5 will begin with race 1 and the late Pick 5 with race 7. Last year's late Pick 5 on Saturday generated a $4.8 million pool, while the late Pick 4 offered a $3 million pool. Any Pick 5 carryover from Friday or the early Pick 5 on Saturday will carry over to the late Pick 5 on Saturday. The middle Pick 5 on Saturday will have a mandatory payout.
