Two $150,000 open turf stakes are included in the early races Nov. 3 at Santa Anita Park as part of the Breeders' Cup World Championship Friday card.
The day begins with the Golden Mile Stakes that has attracted a field of eight that will race eight furlongs on the inner turf course.
Go With Gusto , a filly by Medaglia d'Oro and raced by Gary Barber, is the slight morning-line favorite at 5-2 and one of three fillies in the field. Trained by Mark Casse, Go With Gusto had been pre-entered for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) following her third-place effort in the Sept. 16 Summer Stakes (G1T) at Woodbine that produced a 74 Equibase Speed Figure. The filly was a $225,000 purchase during the Ocala Breeders' Sale Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale and broke her maiden at first asking by 1 1/2 lengths going a mile on the grass at Woodbine. Go With Gusto will be ridden by Joel Rosario.
Don Alberto Stable's homebred Ultra Power , a son of Curlin , is 3-1 in the morning line off his most recent start and debut win, a four-length romp going seven furlongs on the main track at Los Alamitos Race Course. Ultra Power is out of the multiple grade 1 winner Unique Bella (Tapit ) and is trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert. Ultra Power will be ridden by top international jockey Frankie Dettori.
Breaking from the rail post is another stakes-caliber contender in Ace of Clubs , a son of Mor Spirit who is trained by Doug O'Neill and campaigned by ERJ Racing, Fritz Brothers Racing, Pappas Horse Racing, and Pablo Suarez. Ace of Clubs has won two of four career starts and was fourth last out in the one-mile Zuma Beach Stakes (G3T) behind Endlessly , who is 5-1 in the morning line for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T). The colt will be ridden by Antonio Fresu, who was aboard for both wins.
Race 3 is the Senator Ken Maddy Stakes, a 6 1/2-furlong turf sprint for fillies and mares that are 3 years old and older.
Goldolphin's homebred European invader White Moonlight , a 6-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro, is the 3-1 morning line favorite. She has won twice and been second twice out of seven starts this year, with her wins coming in the 7 1/4-furlong Queen of Scots Fillies Stakes at Musselburgh and in the seven-furlong Queen Charlotte Fillies Stakes at Chelmsford. The mare is trained by Saeed bin Suroor and will be ridden by Oisin Murphy.
Trainer Wesley Ward saddles the only 3-year-old in the field, a daughter of Uncle Mo named Playlist that has three wins and a second from five starts this year. Playlist comes into the Ken Maddy off a second in the Franklin-Simpson Stakes (G2T) at Kentucky Downs behind grade 1-placed, grade 2 winner Private Creed . She will be ridden by John Velazquez and has been assigned 120 pounds due to her age and not having previously won a stakes.
