Tripoli wins the 2021 Pacific Classic at Del Mar
Breeders' Cup bettors looking for some extra action Nov. 4 could do worse than to look north to 1/ST Racing's sister track, Golden Gate Fields, where post times are dependably staggered to complement the Southern California action.
The featured Golden Gate Handicap (G3) is slotted for 5:15 p.m. PT, between the final Breeders' Cup race and the Santa Anita Park finale.
Two years ago, Tripoli was an entrant in the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) and finished seventh. That summer, he won the Pacific Classic (G1). Since then, however, he has struggled to find his place with his only win a March allowance at Golden Gate.
Favored I'mgonnabesomebody is a Northern California veteran in good form, having won his last race, the Bull Dog Stakes at Fresno, by nearly four lengths just three weeks ago.
