Spendthrift Farm, the owner and breeder of grade 1 winner Tamara , went to the platform X (formerly known as Twitter) Nov. 6 to report that the daughter of Bolt d'Oro   exited the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) with a hind leg injury.

Tamara, trained by Richard Mandella, sustained a small fracture in her splint bone in her left hind "that will not require surgery," according to Spendthrift. The farm wrote that the 2-year-old filly "will get some much-deserved rest as she recovers."

The regally-bred Tamara, a daughter of the Hall of Fame race mare Beholder , had finished seventh as the 4-5 favorite in the Nov. 3 Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita Park. Entering the Breeders' Cup on a two-race win streak, the filly led the race through splits of :22.47, :46.60, and 1:10.95 before fading at the top of the stretch. She was beaten 8 1/4 lengths behind the winner Just F Y I . The race was her first time stretching out beyond seven furlongs.

The fourth foal out of Beholder, Tamara made her highly anticipated debut Aug. 19 at Del Mar. After stumbling at the break, she recovered and streaked to a 2 1/4-length victory travelling 6 1/2 furlongs. In her next outing, Tamara cemented her Breeders' Cup favoritism with a breathtaking score in the Sept. 9 Del Mar Debutante Stakes (G1).
