Cody's Wish , winner of the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1), finished ahead of Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner White Abarrio in the final standings of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association Top Thoroughbred Poll released Nov. 7.
The poll, in its 41st week, is conducted by national media and covers racing performances through Nov. 5. It represents horses competing for Horse of the Year, the most prestigious prize in North American Thoroughbred racing. Horse of the Year and other Eclipse Awards will be announced during a ceremony Jan. 25 at The Breakers Palm Beach in South Florida.
The Eclipse Awards are determined by votes by the NTRA, consisting of member racetrack racing officials and Equibase field personnel, Daily Racing Form, and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters.
Godolphin's Cody's Wish, trained by Bill Mott, and C2 Racing Stable and La Milagrosa Stable's White Abarrio, trained by Rick Dutrow, both scored Nov. 4 during Breeders' Cup Saturday at Santa Anita Park.
Cody's Wish received 20 first-place votes in the poll, compared to 11 for White Abarrio.
Idiomatic , Elite Power , and Up to the Mark rounded out the top five, with Idiomatic receiving two first-place votes and the others one apiece.
Belmont Stakes (G1) and Travers Stakes (G1) winner Arcangelo remains the top-rated 3-year-old male in sixth after missing a start in the Classic due to a physical setback.
