Lane's End Farm reported Nov. 9 that multiple grade 1 winner Arcangelo   is scheduled to undergo surgery for a left hind, short lateral condylar fracture after a consultation by prominent orthopedic surgeon Dr. Larry Bramlage.

The procedure was recommended to expedite the healing process and ensure his long-term soundness, according to Lane's End. The findings were made during precautionary radiographs that were performed after missing training and scratching from the Nov. 4 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1).

"We expect a quick recovery and return to normal activities for Arcangelo. We do not anticipate this having any impact on his 2024 breeding season," said Bill Farish with Lane's End.

Arcangelo arrived at Lane's End in good order and will return to Lane's End following the surgery to recover.

The son of Arrogate is a leading candidate for champion 3-year-old male honors following three graded stakes victories that include the Belmont Stakes (G1) and Travers Stakes (G1), earning 100 and 103 Equibase Speed Figures, respectively. He was retired with a record of 4-1-0 from six starts and $1,754,900 in earnings.
