Case Clay Nov. 17 at the Keeneland Horses of Racing Age Sale

Bloodstock agent Case Clay strode into the sales pavilion midway through the Keeneland Horses of Racing Age Sale and snapped up the co-session toppers for $350,000 in consecutive fashion Nov. 17 at the Keeneland Horses of Racing Age Sale.

The first Clay acquisition was the regally-bred Curlin   filly Double Dream  (Hip 4226) from the ELiTE Sales consignment. Three-year-old Double Dream is a daughter of the stakes-producing mare Enchanted Rock, the dam of multiple grade 1 winner and stallion Verrazano  and grade 2 winner El Padrino.

Campaigned by her breeder Peter Brant and trained by Chad Brown, Double Dream became one of Enchanted Rock's six winners when she captured a two-turn maiden special weight at Parx Racing Oct. 3. Brant had acquired Enchanted Rock for $2 million at the 2017 Keeneland November Sale. The older Giant's Causeway mare recently sold to Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa for $65,000 during the November Sale's sixth session Nov. 13.

"Chad (Brown) did a great job to win with (Double Dream) last time out," said ELiTE Sales' Bradley Weisbord. "He sent her in looking in great shape and we're delighted with the result."

Following the wave of Aussie buyers from the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, Clay indicated that Double Dream will be sent to Australia to be a broodmare.

"Maybe she'll race a little bit down there, but ultimately she will be for breeding purposes," Clay said. "(She has a) great pedigree, she's a beautiful filly. It looks like she'll be a great broodmare."

Clay picked up a second horse for $350,000, the Quality Road   ridgling Edgartown , a few minutes after the gavel dropped on Double Dream.

Edgartown (Hip 4230), offered through owner Jacob West's consignment, Highgate Sales, was bought on behalf of the global racing operation Wathnan Racing. The 2-year-old, second to Bourbon Stakes (G2T) winner Can Group  in his Kentucky Downs debut, graduated Nov. 4 at Churchill Downs for trainer Joe Sharp. Racing in a one-mile turf maiden special weight, he drew away from his rivals for a 1 3/4-length score in his third trip to the post.

"His form stands up really well," Clay said. "He was second (in his first start) to Bourbon Stakes winner Can Group. He has good form and he's a good-looking colt, so we'll try to do well for him here in the U.S."

Sold as a yearling for $250,000 at the 2022 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Sale, Edgartown is out of the Fed Biz   mare Love Child, herself a half sibling to graded stakes winner Doubles Partner and a daughter of a full sister to champion race mare Serena's Song.

"I don't own racehorses but I ended up with him," West said. "I believed in the horse, so I kept him and put him in training with Joe Sharp, a good friend of mine. He and his team did an incredible job."
