

Schumer Bloodstock announced Nov. 20 the acquisition of multiple grade 1-placed winner Reinvestment Risk by Rising Sun Farm in Portmore, Jamaica, where he will stand alongside grade 3 winner Midnight Hawk .
The son of Upstart placed in four of his grade 1 starts in 2020 and 2022. After breaking his maiden in his first start at 2 at Saratoga Race Course for Klaravich Stables and trainer Chad Brown, he was runner-up to champion Jackie's Warrior twice in the Hopeful Stakes (G1) and Champagne Stakes (G1). Towards the conclusion of his career during his 4-year-old campaign, he ran second to multiple grade 1 winner Speaker's Corner in the Carter Handicap (G1) before meeting up with his old rival Jackie's Warrior in the Churchill Downs Stakes (G1) where he finished second-best again. He retired at 5 with a 2-4-1 record from 10 starts and earnings of $415,980.
Aschinger Bloodstock Holdings bred Reinvestment Risk out of the Candy Ride winner Ridingwiththedevil, who is out of the family of multiple grade 3 winner My List and stakes winner Crushed It .
Reinvestment Risk was offered during this year's Keeneland January Horses of All Ages as a stallion/racing prospect where William Nicks bought him for $70,000. He would make one start this year and then be offered during the Keeneland November Horses of Racing Age Sale, where he was a $45,000 buy-back for the Taylor Made Sales Agency.
