One Way Traffic became the first winner for first-crop sire Force the Pass when taking a Nov. 24 maiden race at Laurel Park.
Starting from post 10, One Way Traffic broke quickly from the gate with jockey Jevian Toledo and easily established a two-length lead through a :22.57 opening quarter-mile. The Bird and Grady-owned juvenile maintained a clear one-length advantage through a :46.23 half-mile, and then safely turned back all challengers during the stretch drive. He was a measured 1 1/2-length victor under the wire.
The 2-year-old gelding raced six furlongs over the main track in 1:12.97. He paid $13.60 to win as the third betting choice.
His victory followed a sixth-place finish in his only other start Nov. 3 at Laurel.
David DiPietro bred the John E. Salzman Jr. trainee in Maryland out of the multiple stakes-placed Outflanker mare My Little Josie.
Force the Pass, an 11-year-old son of Speightstown , raced for owner/breeder Colt Neck Stables, recording a 5-6-5 record in 21 starts with earnings of $1,359,114. His marquee win was the Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (G1T) in 2015, and he also captured the Penn Mile Stakes (G3T) that year. He is out of the grade 3-winning Dynaformer mare Social Queen.
Force the Pass entered stud in 2020 at Anchor & Hope Farm in Port Deposit, Md., and was sold later that year to continue his stallion career in Saudi Arabia.
