St. Armands Key First Winner for Lost Treasure

St. Armands Key  became the first winner of Hill 'n' Dale Farms' first-crop stallion Lost Treasure  in scoring a front-running victory in a $52,000 maiden special weight race Nov. 25 at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

Coming off a runner-up finish last month at Keeneland in his second start, St. Armands Key was backed to 3-1 odds in Saturday's fourth race at Fair Grounds and controlled the race at every point of call under Jaime Torres. He raced 1 1/16 miles on firm ground in 1:44.83, returning $8.80 to win.

Joe Sharp trains the Andrew Warren-bred winner for International Equine. He had been a $15,000 weanling purchase from the 2021 November Breeding Stock Sale from the Four Stars Sales Consignment. Out of the Henny Hughes mare Henny's Hurricane , St. Armands Key is 1-1-0 in three starts with earnings of $50,900.

Lost Treasure is an 8-year-old son of War Front   out of the Montjeu  mare Wading , who also produced group 2 stakes winner Just Wonderful  (Dansili ).

Competing primarily overseas, Lost Treasure won three of 10 starts for Aidan O'Brien and owners Mrs. John Magnier, Derrick Smith and Michael Tabor. He shipped to the United States to finish seventh in the 2018 Breeder's Cup Turf Sprint (G1T) at Churchill Downs.

He stands for a $3,500 fee next year at Hill 'n' Dale Farms.
