One More Bid, a 4-year-old son of California Chrome , had been unraced since a fifth-place finish in the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Stakes (G1T) in January. He had recorded one workout recently, breezing three furlongs in :36 3/5 at Santa Anita Nov. 17 for trainer Ryan Hanson.
Running for the partnership of Hanson, California Racing Partners, and Ciaglia Racing, One More Bid scored his finest victory in the Dec. 26 Mathis Mile Stakes (G2T) at Santa Anita a month after breaking his maiden. In the Mathis Mile, he fought gamely between horses to prevail by a nose over graded stakes winner Balnikhov and Sumter in a thrilling photo finish.
Unraced at 2, One More Bid sold to Matthew Dohman at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton Santa Anita 2-Year-Old in Training Sale for $55,000 from the Pike Racing consignment.
