B D Saints wins a maiden race on grass at Aqueduct Racetrack

The two richest races in North America this week take place Dec. 16 when Aqueduct Racetrack hosts a pair of $500,000 divisions of the New York Stallion Series for juveniles at seven furlongs.

Twelve 2-year-old fillies compete in the Fifth Avenue Division as the eighth race, followed by the Great White Way Division for 2-year-olds a race later. The Great White Way Division drew an overflow case of 12 juveniles plus two also-eligibles.

Soloshot , who captured her first two starts, including the Lady Finger Stakes at Finger Lakes, looks to rebound in the Fifth Avenue Division after a lackluster fifth in the Key Cents Stakes at Aqueduct Nov. 18 when outsprinted for the first time. Manny Franco rides the daughter of Solomini   for trainer George Weaver and owners Bregman Family Racing, Jackpot Farm, and Swinbank Stables.

Laoban Well-Represented in Great White Way

Three sons of Laoban—Antonio of Venice , B D Saints  and Brick Ambush —are among the favorites in the Great White Way Division. Another son of Laoban, first-time starter Wo Hop , appears a likely longshot. Palace Boss , yet another debuting son of the late stallion, is an also eligible.

Cypress Creek Equine's homebred B D Saints scored his only victory on turf, but has twice placed in two starts on dirt, including when second in the mud in the Oct. 29 Sleepy Hollow Stakes after being impeded when checked at the start.
