Home of the Brave Sires First Stakes Winner

Home of the Brave , an Oklahoma stallion and full brother to 2009 Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Well Armed, sired his first black-type winner Dec. 15 when his gelded son Soul Sacrifice  won the Jim Thorpe Stakes at Remington Park.

Soul Sacrifice is a homebred for Bill and Susan Casner, who bred the new stakes winner out of the Super Saver daughter Dulces Suenos. The mare is a half sister to grade 3 winner Song of Spring  (by Spring At Last ) out of Adream, who is a half sister to multiple grade 1 winner and grade 1 producer Dream Rush  (Wild Rush). The immediate family also includes grade 1 winner Dreaming of Julia , who is out of Dream Rush and the dam of multiple champion and Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Malathaat .

Trained by Shawn Davis, Soul Sacrifice won the seven-furlong Jim Thorpe by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:39.30. The gelding has won five of his 11 career starts and earned $99,075.

Home of the Brave is a 10-year-old son of Tiznow and out of Notebook stakes winner Well Dressed. Besides Well Armed, the unraced stallion is a half brother to grade 3 winner Witty and grade 1-placed winner Helsinki. He stands at Caines Stallion Station for $1,000.
