Free Eagle Could Soar in Prince of Wales's

After closing out his 3-year-old season with a third-place finish against older horses in the QIPCO Champion Stakes (Eng-I) last year, Moyglare Stud Farm homebred Free Eagle will try to score at the highest level Wednesday, June 17, in the Prince of Wales's Stakes (Eng-I) at Royal Ascot.
The race lost some star power when last year's Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner California Chrome was scratched because of a bruised right front foot.
Free Eagle will be looking for his second career stakes win after taking last year's KPMG Kilternan Enterprise Stakes (Ire-III) at Leopardstown.
The June 17 card also includes a pair of group II tilts in the Queen Mary Stakes for 2-year-old fillies and the Duke of Cambridge Stakes for older fillies and mares.
U.S.-based trainer Wesley Ward has entered a pair of fillies in the five-furlong Queen Mary in Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith's Acapulco, a daughter of Scat Daddy who finished third in her May 8 maiden special weight debut on the dirt at Churchill Downs; and Bruised Orange, a City Zip filly who won her April 8 maiden special weight debut on the Keeneland main track.
