Spendthrift Farm's Greatest Honour , the regally bred grade 2 stakes winner, sired his first reported foal Jan. 5 when a colt was born at KatieRich Farms in Midway, Ky.
Bred by Rattner Bloodstock, the bay colt is out of the Champali mare I Love Nola.
"This colt has the longest legs we've ever seen on a newborn foal. He has an extraordinary hip and a beautiful head. This is the biggest foal the mare has had. We are very, very happy," said Martha Rattner of Rattner Bloodstock.
Greatest Honour, a homebred for Courtlandt Farms, scored his biggest career victories in the 2021 Holy Bull (G3) and Fountain of Youth (G2) stakes at Gulfstream Park. He was third in that year's Florida Derby (G1) while sustaining an injury as the odds-on favorite.
The son of Tapit returned as a 4-year-old and finished third in the Ghostzapper Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream. He retired with a record of 3-1-4 from 10 starts and earnings of $446,440.
Greatest Honour, out of Tiffany's Honour (Street Cry), hails from the family of 2007 Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour, Belmont Stakes (G1) winners Rags to Riches and Jazil , and Breeders' Cup Marathon winner Man of Iron .
Greatest Honour covered 178 mares in his debut season in 2023. He is set to stand his second season at stud for a fee of $7,500.
