

Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) winner and 2021 champion 2-year-old male Corniche sired his first reported foal when the Honor Code daughter Faith and Honor produced a filly Jan. 8 at Denali Stud.
"Our Corniche out of Faith and Honor started off our foaling season at Denali in good order," said Conrad Bandoroff, vice president of Denali. "The filly has plenty of quality about her with good leg and bone. Very pleased with our start."
Faith and Honor is a homebred for Barry and Jan Butzer's Sun Valley Farm near Versailles, Ky. The mare is out of the Mt. Livermore daughter Endless Sea, making her a half sister to champion Scandinavian miler Silver Ocean (Silver Train) and European stakes winner Over the Ocean (Rockport Harbor). The mare has a 2-year-old filly by Liam's Map named Indy's Map and a yearling filly by Runhappy .
Corniche, a 5-year-old son of Quality Road , was a $1.5 million purchase at the 2021 Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale where Speedway Stables bought him from De Meric Sales. With trainer Bob Baffert, he won his debut at 2 by 4 1/4 lengths and followed with wins in the American Pharoah Stakes (G1) and Breeders' Cup Juvenile. He had one start at 3 with trainer Todd Pletcher in the Amsterdam Stakes (G2) in which he stumbled at the start and had to be eased. He was retired with $1,263,500 in earnings.
Corniche stands at Ashford Stud for $25,000.
