The first reported foal for 2022 champion 3-year-old male Epicenter arrived Jan. 13 at Twin Creeks Farm near Versailles, Ky., when two-time Saratoga Race Course winner and stakes-placed Peaceful produced a quality filly.
"Excited about our new Epicenter filly out of Peaceful! Day one has us impressed, and we're big fans of the sire," said Twin Creeks' Randy Gullatt in a release.
A brilliant winner of the Travers Stakes (G1) by 5 1/4 lengths, Epicenter earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 112 in that race—the highest of any 3-year-old on dirt that year.
The first foal represents another milestone for Epicenter who fully recovered from an injury in the 2022 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) to stand at Coolmore's Ashford Stud near Versailles in 2023 for a fee of $45,000. He covered 262 mares in his first season, according to the Report of Mares Bred.
A son of Not This Time , and out of stakes winner Silent Candy , Epicenter is bred on the reverse of Gun Runner 's Candy Ride /Giant's Causeway cross.
The foal is the third for Peaceful, an 8-year-old daughter of Declaration of War who finished second in the 2020 Smart N Fancy Stakes at Saratoga. In 2022 and 2023 Peaceful produced colts by Constitution .
Note: The February issue of BloodHorse Magazine will have a feature story on Epicenter's recovery from injury to stand at Ashford Stud and BloodHorse+ will present a corresponding video to that story.
