The Maryland Jockey Club canceled racing Jan. 19 at Laurel Park due to a winter storm that has dropped several inches of snow across Northern and Central Maryland.
"Due to dangerous driving conditions, simulcast wagering has also been canceled today at Laurel and Pimlico Race Course," MJC stated in its Jan. 19 announcement.
Racing is scheduled to return Jan. 20 with a 10-race program, including four stakes highlighted by the $100,000 What A Summer Stakes and $100,000 Fire Plug Stakes. The Laurel's first race post time is noon ET.
Another Mid-Atlantic track, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, also canceled racing on both Friday and Saturday. There will also be no training there on Saturday.
Elsewhere around the country, Turfway Park and Oaklawn Park canceled upcoming racing programs. Turfway scrapped racing Friday and Saturday, and Oaklawn Park will not race on those dates, as well as Jan. 21.
This story will be updated as more cancellations are announced.
