Mucho Macho Man , the classic-placed winner of the 2013 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), has been relocated to Adena Springs North in Ontario, Canada, for the 2024 breeding season, the farm announced Jan. 30.
The 16-year-old son of Macho Uno had been standing at Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa since 2021 as part of an arrangement to manage some stallions that previously stood at Frank Stronach's Adena Springs Kentucky operation in Bourbon County.
Mucho Macho Man entered stud at Adena Springs in Kentucky in 2015 and has since sired 10 black-type winners led by grade I winners Mucho Gusto and Mucho Unusual along with multiple graded stakes winner City Man , who won a pair of turf stakes in 2023 at Belmont Park and Saratoga Race Course. Mucho Macho Man's progeny have earned more than $19 million in purses and averaged $79,232 per starter.
The stallion is expected to arrive at Adena Springs North Feb. 2 and will stand for CA$4,500.
Mucho Macho Man was a multiple graded-placed winner at 2 and won his first graded stakes in the 2011 Risen Star Stakes (G2). He finished a respectable third in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and improved with age. He won the Suburban Handicap (G2) and was second in the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) at 4. At 5, he captured the Breeders' Cup Classic by a hard fought nose over eventual champion 3-year-old male Will Take Charge . He was retired with a 9-5-6 record from 25 starts and earned $5,625,410.
