Living Magic Reappears in Cincinnati Trophy

The Road to the Kentucky Oaks goes through Florence, Ky., when Turfway Park stages the March 1 Cincinnati Trophy Stakes.

The $150,000, one-mile contest on Tapeta drew a capacity field of 12, plus two also-eligibles, with qualifying points toward the May 3 Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs distributed on a 20-10-6-4-2 basis to its top five finishers. The Cincinnati Trophy also serves as a prep for the $300,000 Bourbonette Oaks, Turfway's major race for 3-year-old fillies.

Headlining the Cincinnati Trophy is HnR Nothhaft Horse Racing's dual stakes winner Living Magic , trained by Phil Schoenthal. The Maryland-based daughter of Justify   has been victorious on multiple surfaces, winning the Chelsey Flower Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack on turf and taking the My Dear Stakes at Woodbine on Tapeta in 2023. She also broke her maiden on dirt at Parx Racing.

Jockey Tyler Conner will have the mount for her first race since October.

• Brownwood Farm's multiple stakes-placed Sistina Chapel  finished third in both the Silverbulletday Stakes and Untapable Stakes on dirt at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.
• Twin Oaks Bloodstock's Cozee Rags  was second in the Feb. 10 Valdale Stakes at Turfway.
• Juddmonte's Impel , a 3 1/4-length winner on debut at Fair Grounds Jan. 1, should threaten if a scratch allows her to draw in from the also-eligible list.
