Hurricane Bertie Forecasts Olivia Darling Up

The $125,000 Hurricane Bertie Stakes (G3) March 9 at Gulfstream Park has drawn a field of eight fillies and mares to contest the 6-1/2 furlong dirt test with Amo Racing USA's Olivia Darling  looking ripe for the asking. The 5-year-old Palace  mare debuted this year with a 2-1/4 length victory in the Inside Information Stakes (G2) on the same surface over 7 furlongs Jan. 27.

Trainer Jorge Delgado will have David Egan at the helm on Saturday.

Horses of note:

• Riley Mott will send Unifying  to gate 1 with regular rider Joel Rosario in the tack; the Union Rags   filly hasn't been off the board since January of last year, including a recent second-place effort in the Minaret Stakes at six furlongs Feb. 10.
• Gulfstream Park specialist Spirit Wind  makes her 2024 debut for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. She comes in off a last-out win in the Dec. 23 Sugar Swirl Stakes (G3).

The field is completed by:

• Red Carpet Ready  looks to return to her Eight Belles (G2) form after a hampered finish in the Victory Ride (G3) for owners Ashbrook Farm and Upland Flats Racing.
• Owner/trainer Mary Lightner has been steadily working Dreamster  up to Saturday's start.
• Mellon Patch and trainer Michael Campbell hope 4-year-old Lady Radler  can get back on the board after a fourth-place finish in the Minaret.
• Another for Joseph, Libban  ran fifth in the Feb. 17 Royal Delta Stakes (G3) over 1 1/16 mile.
• Repole Stable's Cheetara  makes her 2024 debut, turning in top-notch weekly works at Todd Pletcher's winter home at Palm Beach Downs.
